first the distributive property of multiplication is to multiply the factor which outside the parantheses by each number inside once. then perform the operation inside the parantheses such as :
use the distributive property to find
4(30+5)
so u will multiply
4 X 30 then 4 X 5 you will get:
120
and 20 then perfome the addition which inside the parantheses to be
120
+ 20 = 140
"remember what we said in the class distribute gifts , a gift for 30 and a gift for 5
Second : u can use the mental
math to do multiplication or division problems by using the properties of multiplication :identity property, associative property, commutative property, and distributive property :
such as use the mental
math to find 5 X
99so we can rewrite 99 as
(100-1) and this will help us to use the distributive property of multiplication
so it will be 5 X
( 100 - 1) (5 X 100)
- (5 X 1)
in this case it's easier to find the answer without calculator or even paper & pencil.
500
- 5 = 495
Third: the same in division u can use the pattern in division
such as
20,000 divided by
40 =
you know that 20 divide 4 = 5
and in division we subtract the number of zeroes so 000 - 0 = 00
It will be
20,000 divided by
40 = 500
